Meaningful Easter Treat

Hey guys!  I am coming to you with an extra special (and a little late) blog post today!  I may have mentioned in the past that my family and I have a very serious dessert competition at Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter.  We all find elaborate treats that theme to that holiday and then the entire family votes to decide who will win.  This year I decided to go the religious route, rather than Easter bunnies and such, to try to ensure a win.  If you are looking for a fun Easter/spring themed dessert, check out the directions below!  This was originally found this on Catholic Icing.

  • Graham Crackers
  • Peanut Butter
  • Small chocolate donuts
  • Mini Oreos
  • Shredded coconut
  • Green food coloring

To begin, you are going to want to start by putting the shredded coconut in a baggie with a few drops of green food coloring and shaking it up.  Make sure that the food coloring is evenly distributed amongst all of the coconut!  You are also going to want to cut off the bottoms of your chocolate donuts and twist apart your oreos at this time.  Next, you are going to spread the peanut butter on your graham crackers and place the “tomb” on the peanut butter covered cracker.  Using the side of an oreo that still has icing on it, place it in front of the donut to portray the “rock” that rolled away from the entrance.  Sprinkle some green coconut in the remaining peanut butter to create grass.  Finally, I used small strips of paper and wrote things like “He is Risen!” and glued them to a toothpick.  I then stuck the toothpick in the donut!

I am so excited that I won this year’s competition!  The other competitors always bring their A-game, but Jesus was on my side this past holiday. 😉

Xoxo, Kay
